YouTube is launching a new analytics hub for creators on its platform from today (July), which will provide enhanced real-time statistics for videos and give artists the ability to view the combined performance of songs in all videos on its platform.

The new hub, called Analytics for Artists, will be included in the YouTube studio and will be available to all official artist channels, allowing artists to view detailed performance metrics for their music on channels outside of their own uploads, such as fan-made videos and videos featuring an artist. The ability to group videos by song to view all activity metrics of a particular song on the platform is a special simplification for artists whose music is often part of fan-generated uploads. The company noted that among the top 1000 music artists on its platform, an average of more than 20% of views on chart-worthy views came from fan-made videos, including covers, lyric videos, dances and challenges, among others. Other channels that use the artist's music are primarily collected through contentID claims, and artists can view and toggle metrics from their own uploads and others' videos.

"It's a mic drop product," YouTube music leader Leo Cohen said in a statement announcing the new analysis tools. YouTube has allowed artists access to realtime analytics since its inception in 2014, and new features are designed to give artists more depth, such as average viewing length, click-through rate for links to videos, and video from a thumbnail or other link to an artist's page over time.
